In 2013 they figured it would improve voter turnout. How? They wouldn't say and I can't figure it. How would hooking to a computer get more people out to vote?
In 2016 they actually voted down and outlawed online voting.
In 2017 they announced no intention of allowing online voting or machine counting; they would continue paper ballots and counting by hand. They cited cyber threats and ease of fraud as the reason.
This is all at the federal level.
At the provincial level, however, they said provinces could choose their own voting machines and standards. As of 2014, BC said NO to machines.
And now in 2024, tabulator/counting machines are the new darling. They say it is to speed up the process and to make sure all the votes are legal and with no duplicates. But this election is held up to at least 26 Oct, seven full days after last vote day, because the machines ..... you fill in the blanks.
